The Nightingale and The Rose

The Nightingale and The Rose is a story included in The Happy Prince and Other Stories by Oscar Wilde, about a nightingale who sacrifices his life to raise a red rose for "true love".

 

I created a storyboard and illustrations based on this story, and animated them. One of the biggest challenges I faced was finding the right balance between staying true to the original fairy tale and adding my own creative spin to the story. I wanted to create something that was both familiar and fresh, and finding that balance was a delicate process.
